Input Rows

Quickly make changes in your model with Input Metrics and the Start Column.

Input Rows represent important numbers in your model that can be referenced by calculations in other rows. These Input Rows can stay as a static value or grow over time with the use of Segments.

Please note that our application is currently in Beta, so features are subject to change as we continue to build incredible tools for you!

Using an Input Row

To create an Input Row simply hit the plus button on whatever row you would like it to be nested under and click “Add Input Row”. Once an Input Row is created you can change its name by clicking on its name cell. The Start Column is the place where you can type a beginning value for your input row.

Properties of an Input Row

An Input Row functions similarly to any other row in the model with a few key differences:

  • Input Rows are colored blue to help differentiate them from your model’s calculation or category rows.
  • By default, an Input Row uses the past() function in its formula bar, which references the row’s value one month prior. If an Input Row has a value in its Start Column it will repeat that value in the row.
  • If an Input Row’s formula is changed to reference a row outside of itself it will display an arrows symbol to notify viewers. In general, an Input Row will always use the past() function but there are certain circumstances where a user may want to use another formula.
